GRO Solar Interest Request — Phase 3 Preview

Phase 2 active • Phase 3 preview

GRO Solar Interest Request

GRO is currently in Phase 2. This Solar Interest Request is a preparation step for Phase 3. Submit a non-binding request to help GRO identify where solar demand is strongest and prepare future partner offers by country.

Phase 3 preparation This request helps GRO prepare future solar partner offers. Phase 3 is not officially launched yet.
Your GRO stays available This request does not lock, spend, burn, or reserve your GRO.
Solar Credit estimate For Phase 3 estimates only, GRO uses an internal reference of 1 GRO = CA$1. Final availability depends on partner offers and campaign rules.
Sign in to attach this Phase 3 Solar Interest preview request to your GRO account and unlock the Phase 3 Solar Interest badge. This badge is a preparation marker for Phase 3 and does not mean Phase 3 is officially launched.

Kits Preview

Review the provisional kit examples below before submitting your request. These examples help estimate what kind of solar system may fit your needs.

Kit A

Balcony / Plug-in Micro-PV (0.8–1.6 kW)

Pilot market

Ideal for: Renters / condos; easy DIY

Most country-dependent format in the catalog. Approval varies a lot by local rules.
  • 2–4 × 400–430 W panels
  • 1 microinverter 600–1600 W
  • Balcony / wall mounts
  • Smart plug meter

≈ CAD $900–$2,400 hardware-only

Subsidy tip: Grid-tied rules vary; check local allowance for plug-in vs. hard-wired.

Kit B

Off-Grid Cabin Starter (0.8–2.4 kW + 1–5 kWh)

Limited

Ideal for: Cabins, vans; no grid needed

Often feasible, but support programs are less common than for grid-tied residential systems.
  • 2–6 × 400 W panels
  • MPPT charge controller
  • 1–5 kWh LiFePO4 battery
  • Off-grid inverter
  • Racking & wiring

≈ CAD $2,000–$6,500 hardware-only

Subsidy tip: Usually not subsidized; check rural schemes.

Kit C

Grid-Tied Home Core (5 kW + Microinverters)

Likely available

Ideal for: Single-family homes; scalable

This is the closest match to the residential systems most commonly supported by official programs.
  • 12–14 × 400–430 W panels
  • 5 kW total microinverters
  • Rapid shutdown
  • Roof racking
  • Monitoring gateway

≈ CAD $8,500–$12,500 hardware-only (turnkey $16k–$24k)

Subsidy tip: Ensure CSA / UL / IEEE 1547 compliance and utility interconnection.

Kit D

Grid-Tied + Storage (5 kW + 10 kWh)

Installer dependent

Ideal for: Outage resilience; time-of-use shifting

Often possible, but installer qualification, battery rules, and utility approval matter more.
  • Kit C + 10 kWh LiFePO4
  • Hybrid inverter or AC-coupled interface

≈ CAD $15,000–$23,000 hardware-only

Subsidy tip: Storage support depends on local rules; some markets support batteries explicitly.

Kit E

Solar Hot Water (Flat-plate, 2 panels)

Limited

Ideal for: DHW preheat to cut gas / electric use

May be supported separately from PV, depending on the country and program type.
  • 2 flat-plate collectors
  • Pump station & controller
  • 200–300 L dual-coil tank
  • Glycol & roof mount

≈ CAD $3,000–$5,000 hardware-only (installed $6k–$9k)

Subsidy tip: Some countries support thermal systems under different energy-efficiency programs.

Kit F

EV-Ready Bundle (5–7.5 kW + 40 A EVSE)

Compliance required

Ideal for: Households adding an EV

Best presented as a bundled pathway, but support often depends on separate charger and solar rules.
  • 5–7.5 kW PV (as Kit C)
  • 40 A Level-2 EVSE (smart)

≈ CAD $9,500–$15,000 hardware-only

Subsidy tip: EV charger support may come from separate utility / state / province programs.
